Ms.
Monte is both Lecturer and Academic Advisor for the Department
of Engineering Fundamentals.
As a lecturer she teaches: ENG1001, ENG1101, & ENG1102.
Her research and teaching interests are in teaching techniques
to help under prepared students succeed in engineering. Ms.
Monte teaches Engineering and Science Applications in Precalculus
(ENG1001) . Her research has shown that students taking ENG1001
receive higher grades in pre calculus (MA1032) than students
not taking ENG1001. ENG1001 is part of the Excelling in Science
and Engineering Learning Program (ExSEL)
Ms. Monte advises 450 - 550 College of Engineering, Engineering
Undecided and Biomedical Engineering students. Students meet
with her for guidance on career decisions, course scheduling,
creating 4 year academic plans, completing a degree audit.
In addition she meets with prospective
engineering students to introduce them to MTU's engineering
curriculum.
