Name: Boeing Co.
Contributor: J. Hertel, Dept of Engineering Fundamentals
Synopsis:
The former CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of Boeing executives lost his job
due to hiring a former US Air Force official. The problem was that
discussions occurred between the Air Force official and Boeing while the
person was still working for the Air Force - and in a position to
influence the awarding of government contracts.
In a separate case, documents regarding a competitor's design and analyses were found in Boeing offices. These documents were instrumental in Boeing being granted large government contracts. Because of this ethics' breach, the government has indefinitely suspended Boeing from competing for new space contracts.
