Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant

Synopsis:

In April 1986, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant failed. This failure was due to a poor reactor design and the lack of safety training for employees. Immediately after the plant failed and radiation was released to the atmosphere, 30 people died. This region of the Ukraine now has a high incidence of cancer and other illnesses due to radiation exposure.
