ENG 1102
Spring 2008

Engineering
Modeling
and Design
You may
notice that many of the linked files cannot be printed. This
is due to the fact that this site represents about
1,200 pages of material - - with about 700 students in 1102 this
semester, the printing demands would swamp
our labs. Most of the information in the lesson slides
can be found in the texts or Lab Manual for
the course.

The Design Project is
the
"Cornerstone" of ENG1102. The modeling and programming
skills that you learn throughout the semester will be practiced as your
team develops a design concept to solve a real world problem. There
will also be individual assignments, but most students find that the
design projects are the most challenging and rewarding part of the
course. Regardless of your choice of engineering major, the basic
design process and deliverables are typical of what is expected
when you are hired to get the job done.
In my sections of 1102, you will be working vehicle concept design to
compete in the SAE Supermileage Collegiate Competition. A virtual
competition will be run where teams demonstrate their car's performance
using their Matlab simulation code running. For a more compete
description of the SMV project, goto the (preliminary) Request
for
Proposal. |
